Kia's 4th day on the treadmill

I spent about three minutes training Kia to use the treadmill, just by emulating how Cesar Millan trained a Dalmatian to use a treadmill on one of the first season episodes of National Geographic's The Dog Whisperer. This video was taken today, on her 4th day of using the treadmill. We had hoped to teach her calm submission through the treadmill use, and while we are, it isn't making big enough changes. At any rate, the video is short but fun to watch so enjoy it!

Shelby

Hope you enjoy this cute picture of Shelby. Dogs will use anything for a pillow, won't they! On a sad note, Kia, who has lived with us for a couple of months now, has been attacking Shelby. We have worked with Kia using the methods of Cesar Millan, The Dog Whisperer. While we have improved Kia's behavior by becoming stronger pack leaders, we feel Kia sometimes wants to kill Shelby. Shelby is old and ailing and it is nature's way to eliminate the weak and the sick. Maybe this is why Kia has attacked Shelby but not the dogs in her foster home. Maybe it is also that Kia has bonded to me in a way she didn't to any of her foster humans.

We are considering returning Kia back to the rescue group we adopted her from, Dalmatian Rescue of Colorado. Kia and I really bonded so this will be absolutely heartbreaking for me and not easy for her either. No matter what, it isn't an easy decision. Most likely, Kia can be rehabilitated to not attack Shelby, but how long will it take and what will life be like for all of us until then? For now, Kia will be kept from having access to Shelby when I cannot closely supervise her. None of the attacks have occured when I am alert and watching, rather when I have been distracted and tired.

Free bead for June!

Its free bead time. I never picked one for May but I just used the Random Number Generator to find a winner for May and its Linda in Washington. She will pick a focal from my website for her free bead. For June though, I am going to give away this bead. It has dichroic glass in pink and the bead has been fumed with gold so it shows off lovely pinks, purples and aqua colors!

My favorite color

Yellow is my absolute favorite color. Its so cheerful! Its reminds me of the sun on a cloudy day. Yellow is so warm when the sun is shining on it too! I get an all around happy feeling when I see yellows lit up the way they are in my latest treasury. Kia waits patiently

I like this picture of Kia for several reasons. First, it shows she has patience. I'm taking yesterday's beads off their mandrels in the kitchen and she has settled in to wait for me to finish. Next, it shows she is loyal (to me). My husband is in the house and Kia would rather lay on a thin rug on a hard kitchen floor, watching and waiting for me, than be in a comfortable bed where my hubby is. : ) Lastly, it shows her size. Kia is a big, albeit quite slender, girl. I don't think any of my other pictures of her give any perspective on the size of this girl's frame. This one does! The door leads to the garage and is wider than inner household doors. Kia really is a big girl and I think she'll fill out once that leg heals enough for me to start walking her. Kia will have been with us for a month, this Tuesday. I am enjoying her so much and am so very glad we adopted her!
